When do Yumm! Sauce orders ship?

PLEASE NOTE: Delivery timeframe estimates include the time to process and prepare your order for shipment, as well as the time in transit. Orders placed by 8am PST Monday-Wednesday will generally be processed to ship the next shipping day, according to the selected method. Orders placed after 8am PST and all weekend orders will require an additional processing day prior to shipment. We do not offer same day shipping. Some shipping methods and Saturday delivery may not be available for all destinations.

What is Yumm! Sauce?

It’s a uniquely Northwest all-purpose condiment used as a creamy dip, spread, dressing, topping, or sauce on a variety of dishes. With an umami flavor described as tangy and savory, Yumm! Sauce is made with a base of healthful ingredients like almonds, garbanzo beans, garlic, and lemon juice.

What is the shelf life of Yumm! Sauce?

The “Enjoy By” date listed on our jars and bottles is 6 months from the date of production. We typically ship products with a shelf life that ranges from 2-4 months. Because it’s a natural product, this ensures that the quality is what our fans love and expect, and while it may be somewhat conservative, this guideline is necessary because home storage success varies.

For best results, we encourage immediate refrigeration and that you finish your Yumm! Sauce before the “Enjoy By” date. After the “Enjoy By” date, we encourage you to dispose of the contents and recycle or reuse the container.

Why has the Yumm! Sauce label changed?

We make regular updates to our product labels. The classic Yumm! Sauce recipe that you know and love has not changed. It’s the same product with the same ingredients. You may notice that we recently simplified some information to comply with regulations and industry best practices.

I have questions about shipping costs.

Shipping rates seem really expensive. Can you tell me why?

Because it’s a natural product, Yumm! Sauce can only be shipped unrefrigerated for up to three days at 70 degrees or less. This temperature requirement, along with the shipping distance from Oregon and the package weight, affect the shipping cost which is calculated by UPS.

PRO TIP: Do your friends and family crave Yumm! Sauce too? Order together and save! The price of shipping is more affordable when you buy multiple bottles or cases of jars in one order rather than shipping individual orders separately. Plus, a jar of Yumm! Sauce makes a wonderful gift, so the more the merrier!

The good news is that ground and 3-day shipping rates generally become available across the country during the fall and winter months as temperatures drop. You can subscribe to our newsletter for updates or follow us on Facebook and Instagram, though checking the online store periodically is the best way to know the current available options for your region.

Why did my shipping cost change from one day to the next?

UPS may change rates at any time. Rates can also change if you update a shipping address and shipping options may change due to weather.

I live in Florida and I can only select one-day shipping. Why is that?

Yumm! Sauce requires refrigeration and we have to ship it on ice with overnight service if you live in a warm area. You may want to check back should your weather cool down.

I live in New York and it’s cold outside. Why does shipping cost so much?

Ground shipping is not available for states that are more distant (from Oregon). This forces us to choose a more expensive shipping method.

Can I ship Yumm! Sauce on my own?

While we cannot advise you about how to best package and ship Yumm! Sauce, please note that perishable, liquid food products require extra consideration. A few general pointers we can share:

  • We’ve found we can ship jars of Yumm! Sauce unrefrigerated *if* the package arrives within three days and the weather does not go above 70°.
  • We ship overnight on ice if the weather forecast calls for temperatures above 70°.
  • Plenty of bubble wrap and extra layers of cardboard can spell success.

Why doesn’t my local grocery store carry Yumm! Sauce?

Who makes Yumm! Sauce?

Café Yumm! is the creator and producer of all three flavors. Yumm! Sauce is made in our home state of Oregon. Find our restaurants in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

Does Yumm! Sauce need to be refrigerated?

Yes. Yumm! Sauce is a natural product made without preservatives, so refrigeration is required.

Can I freeze Yumm! Sauce?

Yes, but we do not recommend it. Freezing will change the consistency, causing Yumm! Sauce to separate when thawed. Some people use an immersion blender after thawing but results vary.

I opened my Yumm! Sauce a while ago. Is it still safe to eat?

We list an “Enjoy By” date on every jar and bottle. The date is there because we believe in and promote safety first. The date may be somewhat conservative, but this guideline is necessary because storage success varies.

For example, 1) not everyone practices immediate refrigeration, 2) not all refrigerators are correctly set between 35 and 40°F, and 3) not everyone will carefully reseal their opened food items.

Therefore (and for best results), we encourage you to finish your Yumm! Sauce before the “Enjoy By” date. After the “Enjoy By” date, we encourage you to dispose of the contents and recycle or reuse the jar.

Why do you use canola oil?

It’s important to us that we use a heart-healthy, sustainable oil. To meet this goal, we source locally grown, non-GMO, expeller-pressed canola oil that is never processed with solvents. This is a high-quality vegetable oil containing healthy unsaturated fat with omega-3 fatty acids and is suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets.

A concern about canola oil is that it is genetically modified, and it is true that most canola is genetically modified (GM) to be pesticide resistant. Herbicide-resistant GM canola (also called Roundup Ready Canola) was introduced in 1995, but not all canola oil is made from GM canola plants. The canola oil we use is verified non-GMO by the Non-GMO Project which requires documentation and testing of the canola seeds to verify their non-GMO integrity. (The Non-GMO Project is an independent third-party product verification program and uniform seal for labeling non-GMO products.)

We have thoroughly researched canola oil and feel comfortable with the quality and wholesomeness of the canola oil we use in our products.

Can I order your Jalapeño Sesame Salsa online?

At this time, Jal-Ses!® Salsa is only available for purchase in Café Yumm! restaurants and in select grocery stores throughout Oregon, Washington, and California. We will continue to research a viable option for offering this product through our online store in the future.

Can I recycle the plastic Yumm! Sauce bottles or have them refilled at a restaurant?

While recycling rules have changed for many plastic containers, you can continue to place your empty and clean plastic Yumm! Sauce bottles in commingle recycling throughout Eugene and other parts of Oregon. These clear bottles are a type of plastic that remains desirable to waste haulers. Please check with your local recycling service for more information.

Due to food safety concerns and health regulations, restaurants may not refill used food containers (unlike beverages at coffee shops).

As part of our commitment to the environment, we continue to explore waste reduction practices.

Can I reuse, recycle, or return packing materials from my order?

We are passionate about sustainability and always on the lookout for Earth-friendly options. At this time, we cannot accept returned shipping materials – however, we encourage you to please follow the recycling instructions listed on each packing item and check with your local municipal recycling provider for the best way to keep packing materials out of the landfill. Many of these items can also be reused for personal shipping or storage needs. Thank you for your care!
